What happens when the environment is not determined?
Output of environment-specific values (GTM / GA4, etc.) is suspended and only a warning is shown in the admin screen. The plugin never falls back to treating the site as “production”. This is an intentional fail-safe that avoids the worst case of a wrong tag firing on production.
Can I use it without editing wp-config.php?
Yes. Choose the domain-mapping detection method and simply register each environment’s domain in the admin screen. No file editing is required.
Are stored code snippets output automatically?
Only values under the keys gtm_id / ga4_id are output automatically by the core. All other keys are stored only; outputting them is the responsibility of extensions or your theme.
Is any data sent to Google?
No external connection is made unless you enter a GTM container ID / GA4 measurement ID. Once set, the visitor’s browser loads Google’s scripts (the plugin itself does not transmit anything). Informing visitors and obtaining any required consent is the site owner’s responsibility.
Can I use it without any extension plugin?
Yes. The core alone provides environment detection, per-environment settings, and automatic GTM / GA4 output. Extensions are optional add-ons that build on the core’s public API.
