WP Notepad is a WordPress plugin that puts a notepad (textarea) on your site. Notes are saved in the visitor’s own browser (LocalStorage) — no login required — and by default nothing is ever stored on the server. It works as a widget, a block or a shortcode, with a character counter, auto-grow, copy/download, multiple notes via tabs, note expiry (auto-delete) and opt-in cross-device sync for logged-in users.
Usage
After installing, add the Notepad widget under Appearance → Widgets, insert the “WP Notepad” block in the editor, or place the [wpnotepad] shortcode. Settings such as the number of tabs, note expiry (TTL) and the maximum character count, plus the full shortcode attribute list, are covered on the usage page.
Documentation (for developers)
Technical reference for developers: LocalStorage keys and the timestamped JSON storage format, the wpnotepad_widget_textarea filter for customizing the widget output, and the REST API (wp-notepad/v1) used by the opt-in sync feature.
