How to install and configure QR Code Management, and issue QR codes for posts and users.
Installation
- In the admin panel, go to “Plugins” → “Add New Plugin”, search for “QR Code Management” and install it (or upload the
qr-code-managementfolder to/wp-content/plugins/) - Activate the plugin from the “Plugins” menu
Global settings
After activation, a “QR code management” menu is added to the admin sidebar. Configure the plugin from “QR code management” → “Setting”.
| Section | Description |
|---|---|
| Display settings (List display) | Choose whether to show the “Image” and “Download” in the QR code column of the post / user lists |
| QR Code data settings (Data format used) | Choose the data formats available for QR codes (URL / Contact / Events / Free) |
| Role settings (Custom post type settings) | Choose the post types that issue QR codes |
| Role settings (User settings) | Choose whether QR codes can be used with user profiles |
| Role settings (Available permissions) | Choose the user roles that can use the QR code features |
| Output setting (Format) | Choose the downloadable formats (jpeg / png / eps / svg) |
| Redirect settings | Enable / disable embedding a shortened URL in QR codes that logs the access and redirects |
| QR Code Settings | Default appearance of QR codes (margin, label, size, logo, colors, etc.) |
Using with posts
Three meta boxes appear on the edit screen of the post types selected in the role settings.
| Meta box | Description |
|---|---|
| QR Code Data | The data embedded in the QR code. By default the permalink of the public page is used; it can be individually changed to URL, contact (MeCard / vCard), event, or free text |
| QR Code Settings | Appearance for this post only (margin, label, size, logo, colors, etc.) |
| QR Code Shortcode | The shortcode to embed this post’s QR code in content |
A QR code column is also added to the post / page lists, where you can view the image and download it (configurable in the display settings).
Original QR codes
From “QR code management” → “QR code list”, you can create QR codes that are not tied to a post. Issue them with any data such as URLs or contact information and download them in the same way.
Using with user profiles
Enable “Use with user profile” in the role settings to issue QR codes on the profile edit screen. A QR code column is also added to the user list. If no destination URL is set, the QR code redirects to the user’s author archive page.
Redirect (shortened URL)
When the redirect setting is “Valid”, QR codes embed a shortened URL (https://your-site/?qrc=CODE) instead of the public page URL. Each scan is recorded in the access log and then redirected to the public page, so you do not need to reissue QR codes when the page URL changes.
Scanner
Place the [qrcm_scanner] shortcode on a page to set up a screen that reads QR codes with the camera and redirects to the URL.
